I've just installed Dreamweaver CS5. I used to work on an ASP.NET website connected to an Access Database.
It seems I cannot get to configure Dreamweaver CS5 to have the same options I used to have before.
I created the Site and added a server model ASP.NET.
But when I click the + in Database I only have SPRY but no other option to connect a database.
Can someone help me out of this ?
Support for ASP,NET server behaviors was removed from Dreamweaver in CS4. However, if you need to re-enable that functionality, it's included as an extension in the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS5\configuration\DisabledFeatures (Windows 64-bit - remove the (x86) for 32-bit). On a Mac it's in /Applications/Adobe Dreamweaver CS5/configuration/DisabledFeatures.
Use the Extension Manager to install the ASPNet_Support.mxp extension.
why is it a deprecated functionnality ?
Only Adobe can give the official answer to that question, but there are several reasons in my view:
By deprecating the ASP.NET server behaviors, but leaving them as an extension, Adobe is saying that you're welcome to continue using them; but there's no guarantee that they'll still work, because they're no longer actively maintained.
