I moved some files premiere was using in a sequence, located them, but now they are offline and I get 'adobe dynamic link requires adobe production premium' when I try to edit them. Why?
I just installed Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and some other updates and now this message (adobe dynamic link requires adobe production premium) appears again.
*Sigh*, do I REALLY need to go to the trouble of de + reinstalling CS5 Master Collection in full?
Why can't Adobe just make the Dynamic Link feature not a general feature, regardless of whether you own a suite or individual products?
Hi,
Dyanmic Link, as you may well know, is neccessary to edit via other adobe prgrams such as AE. If you don't use any, then you can still use premiere. Unfotunately... if you want to use cross platform software, or if you want the message gone, it's uninstall reinstall time.
Unistall > use cs5 removal tool (once, there used to be a lot of faffing around with reboots and cs3, cs4 removal tools, but that's been sorted now) > Reboot > Reinstall > Let adobe manager do it's thing. Approx 20mins
Please note. There isn't a list of windows updates have a negative effect on installed software, but problematic updates are often bemoaned by other users and are easily found if you run a search. You can then avoid them by a selective update in your windows update manager.
I am not sure about that, but two things have happened:
- I installed Windows 7 Service Pack 1 + some other recommended updates
- I opened a PPro project file that someone sent me via DropBox (who probably does not have a full suite, just PPro).
Either of these two have resulted in the Dynamic Link feature not working anymore. I just wish that Adobe would make their software more intelligent; from the Serial Number they are able to determine whether or not you have a suite, right? Then why don't they make this a auto-fix feature? I just hate it whenever I have to spend time uninstalling/reinstalling software that previously worked just fine. I just hope that all of the plugins still work, cause that would really set me back a day...
I've had it! This is the bloody limit!
Last week I spent a full 3-4 hours reinstalling CS5 completely (yes with reboots and cleaning script, the whole shebang). Ran all updates to most recent versions... Well, guess what? Same error still persists! Adobe Dynamic Link Requires Production Premium! AAAARGHHH!
Please Adobe, solve this once and for all (of us)!
Same error still persists! Adobe Dynamic Link Requires Production Premium!
Adobe Dynamic Link DOES require Production Premium, or Master Collection. If you only have the stand-alone programs, and not one of the suites, then no amount of uninstalls/reinstalls will change things. To have ADL, you need a suite.
Good luck, and sorry for the bad news,
Hunt
Bill,
Thanks for your answer, but I HAVE the full suite - ie. Master Collection of CS5 - still this damned error persists.
Puzzles me why Adobe makes such a fuss about dynamic link feature being only part of the suite. If you add up the individual components of buying Ae and PPro separately (ie. without the other packages) you'll pay more than Production Premium...
If they were to take out the mandatory part of it being part of a suite, maybe they could get it working always... I just want to work, not spend time installing/reinstalling software...
I know that a year passed since the last post, but I'd like to note about a workaround which work for me when I had a similar problem.
I didn't do any deactication or reinstallation or update (I use CS5.5).
So, the problem was the following:
I moved some AE projects and the links from PP project to them became broken.
However when I was asked by PP to enter new location of missing files, I got the message "Adobe Dynamic Link requires Adobe Production Premium".
The solution was the following:
for each broken AE link in the "Project Window" I did:
1) Right-Click -> Make Offline
2) Right-Click -> Edit Offline
3) Right-Click -> Link Media
and then chose the new path to the missing AE project.
Of course this requires manual work for each missing link, but if you don't have too many of them, it might be a good solution.
