PRE 9 - No Disk in Drive - Harddisk1/DR1

Oct 26, 2010 7:50 PM

I was able to get around this issue/message by inserting a CD into the disc drive last week.  However, this work around no longer seems to get me passed this state.   Can't cancel/try again/continue.  Was there ever a resolution to this issue that several people have reported on the forum?

I don't recall an answer, but, if it has worsened it may be the drive is heading for a hardware failure. Do you have another burner (e.g. a USB RW drive) you could try?

Occasionally someone from Adobe will look in on the forum and respond -- but generally posting to his forum is not a good way to contact Adobe Tech Support.

The best way to contact Adobe is to click the Contact button at the top of this web page.

Don't think its a hardware issue.

It might not be, but recently, there were about three similar threads, and all were in regards to multi-drives in Dells going out. IIRC, each was fixed by Dell, with replacement units. My first course of action would be to download the very latest firmware update for that particular multi-drive. Not sure if Dell has those, of if one would need to go to the mfgr's. Web site for the firmware.

    Good luck,

I also have a new Dell Studio XPS with dual optical drives and W7 64 bit. It's only a month old, and has plenty of RAM and hard disk space.

I loaded the trial version of Premier 9 and tried making a quick test movie using the Instant Movie option.  While the movie was being created, the No Disk error appeared.  This essentially locks the computer since I cannot respond to the message selections which appear.  A reboot is required.

It looks like this may be an incompatability issue with the Dell XPS hardware and PRE 9.

    Hope someone has a solution.
