Can't install Air on XP home edition (sp3) any ideas?

Jan 1, 2011 12:14 PM

I'm getting the error:  An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator.

I've been all over this forum trying all sorts of proposed fixes and still have no luck. Any suggestions would be deeply appreciated.

I am reading these posts because I have a similar problem, triggered in my case by trying to install an update to Zinio.

    Two comments on Chris' suggestions:

    1. It appears Microsoft has withdrawn the cleanup install utility, saying that it could cause problems with other applications.

    See:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2438651#reso1

    2. Personally I would only accept an MS tool like a cleanup utility from a Microsoft web site, not from a third party source.  It was because i went looking on MS.com that I found the page quoted above.
