I have a Canon Rebel XTi and shoot in Raw. I have 3 Tamron lenses - a 10-24, 17-50 and 18-270.
I thought I'd try out the lens correction profile for my 10-24 for a few pics, but when invoking the option, it was unable to determine the len manufacturer. Though as soon as I selected 'Tamron' it then knew which lens I was using.
Should my metadata have capture the lens manufactuer?
Is there something I am missing?
Given they are all Tamron - can I set some sort of default so I don't have to select Tamron for every picture?
Thanks!

Some third party (and not only?) have anbiguous LensID's. Thus, Lightroom chooses to play it safe and not auto-select any prfile at all instead of selecting teh wrong profile.

Yes, you can select "Save New Lens Defaults" under the Setup drop-down. For the future, the auto-selection should work fine for a given lens.
Then I switched to a picture from my 17-50mm lens, and Lightroom is trying to auto-select the 28-75mm lens and will NOT let me change it.
How does it not let you chnage? Are the controls disabled or is the lens or brand missing from the list? Is this is a problem with raw or jpegs?
I checked the metadata for the RAW picture and it lists the 17-50mm lens, but in Lightroom when I check to use the lens correction, it picks the 28-70 lens and when I attempt to hit the control to change it - there is nothing else in the list.
Before setting the default value you previously mentioned, I could then hit the lens drop down after selecting 'Tamron' and everything was shown..
Maybe I should try a few other pictures from this an other lens. These are all brand new Tamron lenses from this year.
Thanks!
To be clear, there are three popup menus in the panel you're describing.
You're probably referring to the third popup menu, titled "Profile". The "Profile" popup menu will only list lens profiles for the lens model selected in the "Model" popup menu.
And similarly, the "Model" popup menu will only show lens models corresponding to the lens maker selected in the "Make" popup menu.
First, be sure you've chosen Tamron from the Make menu. Next, visit the Model popup menu. You should see many Tamron lenses listed (at least, if you're processing raw files). The 17-50 is among these.
I have the same lens (Tamron 17-50mm) and I have actually seen the profile pop up a couple of times, but I haven't been able to figure out when. I think it's when I edit a raw photo vs JPG.
As for why it only shows the Tamron Di 28-75mm lens, it's because that's the only lens they have listed for Tamron.
