Reinstalling CS3 From Download

I need to download CS3 and reinstall on a different computer than originally done in 2007.  But the download instructions say:  "Before you begin additional installations or reinstallations, please make sure the installer is in the same location or drive it was during the original installation."  But that computer/drive no longer exists!  How then can I reinstall CS3 on my replacement computer??

    Do you have a back up copy of that download?

    No I do not.  It is registered... And I paid for it.  I finally renamed an external drive the same as the original disk and I was able to re-install from it.  Isn't there a better way?  I will never buy a download upgrade from Adobe again.  Always a disk.
