I am new to to adobe story. Sometimes I can enter text and other times I cannot. I can always delete text but there seems to be something kicking me out of an edit mode?? any ideas?
Hey,
A warm welcome to Story. Track changes can be turned on and from the "Review" menu option in the Authoring view. Click on "Review"; the first item in the list is "Start tracking changes"; you can turn tracking changes on/off through this. Only the author of the script can turn it on/off. For further information on track changes kindly visit the help file (Using Adobe Story -> Sharing, commenting and collaboration->Track Changes while you edit). The help file can be accessed through "Adobe Story Help" option in the help menu or the keyboard shortcut F1.
For any further queries please do get back to us.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for reporting back the issue. We at our end had identified such an issue and have fixed it at our end. The fix would be available with the next release. If you are facing this issue in any other scenario than the following: (text input intermittently stops working after using certain keyboard shortcuts) kindly get back to us.
Regards,
Adobe Story Team.
Thanks, that's good to know. I could not find out what was causing the
issue so stay away from keyboard shortcuts? Do you have a list of which
ones not to use posted? This is a great software package! Very cool. It
helps the students to stay organize and has helped me to review their work.
I teach a high school film making class and we are trying this out as we
just got CS5 in our computer lab. I have another question though. Several
students "shared" their script with me. I receive an email saying
Hi ,
I've shared a document with you on Adobe Story as Co-author. Please login to
http://www.adobe.com/go/adobestory to access this document.
Thanks,
Name of author
But when I select the link it just takes me to the sign in page. After I
sign in I only see what I have written in my own script??? Where do I find
these shared docs? I should be able to access at least 5 separate scripts
but see no link. Thanks for your time and great job on the software, look
forward to exploring it more. Aloha, Chris
Hey Chris,
Great to know that you are using Story for training the students at your school! And yes you do not need to shy away from the keyboard shortcuts, there's a list of known issues in the release notes under the help menu option. You may also want to use the desktop application of Story. You can download it from any one of the link points: Home page (there's a tab saying install desktop application), Projects View (The projects menu has the same option) and the Authoring View (File menu has the same option too).
For accessing the shared documents, there's an "envelope icon" for the new notifications, click on it and you can see notifications for all the scripts been shared with you and you can choose to accept/ reject the same.
Hoping you could explore the "Track Changes" feature.
In case of any further queries do keep us posted and we would be more than happy to assist. Keep dropping in your feedbacks, each one values ![]()

Hey,
I have mentioned above one of the scenarios that we have isolated and fixed but we would surely like to ensure that nothing impends your usage of Story. If you could please get back to us with any of the scenarios you are facing this issue it would help us vouch for the fix we have put in place.
Thanks,
Adobe Story Team
It's not really scenarios. It's just random it seems. Sometimes I will minimize the window for a few seconds but when I open it up again, i cant type. Also, if i open a new tab, come back in two minutes, its not letting me type. or if i get up for a minute, when i come back, i cant type. :/
Hope this helps.

I have the same thing. The cursor is movable, but text entry stops totally. It happens in Browser and Desktop app.
This happened a lot when I started using it a couple of months ago - and it was frustrating and regular enough to make Story unusable. So I stopped using it for a while and created a lot of text in Word to reimport to Story for formatting and editing.
What happens: I'll be in the middle of writing and then suddenly find that I can't type anything. I have to click around for a while or restart Story to be able to start typing again.
It seems to happen when I move from one type of formatting to another, or when I change the formatting of a block of text, and perhaps particularly when I create new paragraph breaks and reformat the paragraphs into Action, Dialog, Character, etc.
After I created a lot of my script text in Word and imported to Story a few days ago, the text problem hasn't been happening. It seems like this is because I'm doing a lot less creation of new text, new paragraphs and reformatting of blocks of text. I'm really editing existing formatted paragraphs.
Of course I don't want to be writing in Word and importing to Story for editing - I want to be able to use Story seamlessly for script writing as well as formatting and sharing.
I had this problem on both my MacBook Pro and my Thinkpad PC, in Desktop app, Firefox, Safari and Chrome.
I'm surprised that more people aren't reporting this - perhaps they just give up like I almost did: it's taken me ages to report this problem.
Hope this is useful,
Rupert Howe
