I was having issues with my Adobe reader and wonder if the latest upgrade had not be
successful. So, I uninstalled the reader. I downloaded Adobe X and now I am having several problems, some of which I see here. I cannot bring up files from the web in Adobe. This is very frustrating since all my statements are electronic. All I get is the gray background and nothing else. Also, when I attempt to open Adobe X from the desktop I get an error that it cannot open in "Protected Mode" due to something in my configeration. What is going on with this thing?
I think I have some of my problem resolved. I found a direct link to Adobe X which also installed a patch. I also chose the option to always open in unprotected mode (whatever horrors that might entail) and I can now open files on the web. Now if I can just get my distiller to work again. The link I found on this webiste in another question was:
ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.0.1/en_US/AdbeRdr1001 _en_US.exe
See if this is of any help: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/790549
I had the same problem with Adobe X that when I openened pdf files I would have either a grey screen blank page or black writing grey screen.
In PDF manuals some of the pictures would be greyed out. Web pages were ok. Turning protection mode of didnt work. I uninstaled Adobe X & reinstalled Adobe Reader 9.4 updated to 9.4.2 & eveything is back to normal. So there might be a bug in Adobe X.
I'm using windows 7, 32 bit.
Hope this helps.![]()
