Header/Footer Dialog Box Cut Off on my screen...

Jul 13, 2010 4:43 PM

I am new to Adobe Acrobat as of yesterday.  I am trying to add a footer to a combined document.  The diaglog box opens, I am able to make all

my choices, but the diaglog box is bigger than my laptop screen and scrolling to the bottom is not an option.

I do not see nor can I tab to the choices of Help, OK, Apply..., or Cancel

Therefore, I cannot complete the process of adding the footer.

    Increase the screen resolution.

I have the same problem. If you put your cursor at page options (that's the bottom of what I can see on my screen),

hit tab twice, then enter and that's the equivalent of clicking OK. I have this problem with a number of dialog boxes in

Acrobat 9 Pro and it is incredibly annoying.

This is a particular problem with Netbooks.  My Asus 1005PE max screen resolution is 1024x600.  Acrobat 8 accommodates 1278x760 and puts up an error screen.  It cuts off the top and bottom of some of the windows such as File>Properties. I do not even see the 6 tabs at the top or the Help, OK and Cancel buttons at the bottom.  The window was programmed with a fixed size so there is no vertical scroll bar and the window cannot be dragged up or down.  I therefore lose the ability to set any of the options in File>Properties such as setting an initial pdf view.

I hope software programmers catch up to the netbook craze quickly.  Now that new netbook chips like the Intel Atom 550 permit Windows 7 64-bit, netbooks are becoming the computer of choice for travelers and young folks.

Any suggestions in the mean time would be appreciated.

No solution, just a more verbose statement of the complaint. A change of resolution was required. Note the odd resolution specified by Adobe for Acrobat Pro X. -knowlengr

Since Adobe has insulated itself so effectively from customer concerns and complaints, perhaps the best solution is for all of us to call the Adobe Store at 800-585-0774 to ask whether the problem has been fixed in Acrobat 10.

Not working on a monitor with any resolution with a 600 pixel height is a major flaw, particularly with the proliferation of netbooks, which are commonly 1024x600.

Let's call and leave summaries of what we were told (since so often CS personnel offer different stories).

I just received this response from Adobe re the "window extends beyond desktop" problem. Adobe v10, released in December 2010, fixes the problem. Please disregard yesterday's message re calling sales about Acrobat 10.

    ---------------------

"Unfortunately the 9.4.2 patch did not address anything relating to screen resolution.  The system requirements for Acrobat 9 on Windows operating systems includes a minimum resolution of 1024x768.  Simply put, Acrobat 9 and previous versions weren't designed for netbooks.  During the Acrobat 9 development cycle, netbooks were in their infancy.

Acrobat X however, was designed with netbooks in mind, supporting a minimum resolution of 1024x576."

Cyberbiker1 - Thanks for the follow-through with Adobe support. Good news about version X. I'll update my blog post accordingly.
