For Photoshop CS6, how about add option to set a dark user interface style [UI skin] like Premiere Pro or Lightroom? It's very helpful to be able to work on images in a dark interface because it enhances our eyes' perception of color. Can this be possible in CS6?
Have you lost your mind?
That's an absolute falsehood that you can edit images with more precision,
with a horrible dark interface. That's why photoshop is and always will be
usable unlike elements, lightroom or any other application that forces
users to a dark can't see what your doing color scheme.
Actually, there is some value in changing the background color.
Contrast of the image with surrounding gray values does affect your perception of tone and saturation in the image.
So you want to view the image with a surround that comes close to the value that the final result will be viewed in.
For print, that means a 50% gray or lighter surround (mimicking the world).
For video that means something darker but not really black.
And for movies you want a nearly black surround.
Unfortunately, OS controls/widgets aren't designed to do that. Premiere and AE managed it by creating all their own controls and not using OS controls.
the trend seems that as software have modernized, more graphics programs are going with a dark UI [or at least be capable of it]. for example, even autodesk's 3D programs with their complicated UI [maya and 3ds max] has been given a facelift and went dark with the UI for 1-2 years now. even adobe bridge is capable of having a dark UI. i've been requesting a dark UI for photoshop since CS3, so i really hope it will finally happen with CS6. fingers crossed.
im just saying things are moving in that direction. and it makes a lot of sense for photoshop to do that, too. for the same reasons why lightroom, premiere, bridge, etc present a dark environment for working with images.
Not just trendy. For me it would be a great thing while i don't see very good any more, and especially i see lot better on dark background.
Now it is very hard to work longer than an hour.
So i hope a dark UI is coming soon.
i see lot better on dark background.
Have you ever worked on a dark image on a dark background.
I don't want trendy, or sexy. I want functional. I use these software to get a job done not to look at the futuristic UI.
Having said that, I don't mind having the option to quickly adjust UI tone to suit the job at hand.
Please don't make a dark interface by default.
I've tried photoshop element's dark interface on a friend's computer and it felt tacky.
If you do so, providing an option to revert would be nice.
If we were to do such a feature, it would have to be adjustable in some way.
Light UI is best for editing images intended for viewing in a light environment (print, bus stop transparencies), and a dark UI for images viewed in a dark environment (TV, movies). One brightness does not fit all needs.
