I'm using Firefox 3.6.15 (With Shockwave Flash enabled) on Windows 7 64-bit with Flash Player 10,0,32,18 according to the box here:
http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
So... My problem is... I've downloaded and installed Flash Player 10.2 many times and it says intall complete... but once again it says I have 10,0,32,18. I've used the Flash Player Uninstaller and followed this guide:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Re-installed, but still no luck...
Sigh... I only noticed that it wasn't updated after yesterday when YouTube had the live symphony event and when I went to watch it, it said I need the latest Flash Player, 10.2 (which I installed manually prior to this event) and made me install it.
I've tried the Cleanup method with CCleaner, I've done virus scans, registry cleanups and even registry defrags, but no luck...
Once again, I will clarify that I DID attempt uninstalling via Revo uninstaller, Add/Remove Prgrams Uninstller, and Flash Player Uninstaller.exe
I'm pretty good with computers and I did try to solve this myself because I rarely seek help from others but this time... I just don't know what to do...
I've also gone through the troubleshooter and still had no luck...
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_Uninstall
If I recall, 10.0.32.18 is a rather old version.. Does that mean my Flash Player was not updating? I update all my software immediatly when their updates release...
I've had one past problem with Flash Player where one of the folders in Firefox was missing some .dll files and YouTube videos were not working, but I solved that..
And as for any recent changes... I think the biggest impact may be the Windows update to Windows 7 service pack 1 that came out recently...
So... any help will be follwed carefully and is greatly appreciated...Thanks ^_^
This is very curious...
Can you try the following:
Does http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ still show the old version?
If yes, can you do a system-wide search if you have another version of NPSWF3

Interesting; I never heard of such a situation...
Can you go to C:\Windows\syswow64\Macromed\Flash and tell me what files you have in there?
File NPSWF32.dll should be in there; can you check the Properties and tell me what version it is?
In Firefox, type about:plugins
into the address bar; can you tell be the information it lists for Shockwave Flash pugin?

OK, inside C:\Windows\syswow64\Macromed\Flash I found these files:
- FlashInstall.log
- flashplayer.xpt
- FlashUtil10n_Plugin.exe
- NPSWF32.dll
In the properties of NPSWF32.dll, it says:
File Version: 10.2.152.32
Product Version: 10.2.152.32
(Identical)
"about:plugins" says:
MIME Type | Description | Suffixes | Enabled |
---|---|---|---|
application/x-shockwave-flash | Adobe Flash movie | swf | Yes |
application/futuresplash | FutureSplash movie | spl | Yes |
MIME Type | Description | Suffixes | Enabled |
---|---|---|---|
application/x-director | Shockwave Movie | dir,dxr,dcr | Yes |
Okay, I guess I'll await your next instructions then.. Thanks

So I did the uninstall/re-install method that you suggested and unfotunately http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ still shows,
"You have version 10,0,32,18 installed"
How do you do system wide searches? I've never had to do one before
Is it just index box searching?

Ok, I mangaed to to a system-wide search and to my surprise....
It found 6 "NPSWF32.dll" files..... :S
I went through each of their properties and found that the first 2 where uninportant, the 3rd one is the version 10.2, the 4th one is version
10.1.85.3, the 5th one is version 10.0.32.18, and the 6th file is just an internet shortcut...
So... Do I simply delete the two older version files?
I will await your reply.....

I deleted the two older files and now http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ reports, "You have version 10,2,153,1 installed"
So I guess that was the problem
Thank you so much for helping me...
