Panel problem: Lost keyboard focus in Photoshop on Mac OSX

Mar 31, 2011 4:29 AM

Some background: I making a plugin that consists of some photoshop scripts and a panel created in Adobe Configurator. Basically the panel has some buttons which executes some functions in the script. The plugin is described in greater detail and can be downloaded here http://lumens.se/tychpanel

The problem: To reproduce the problem, do the following:

  • Give the panel focus by clicking somewhere on it.
  • Switch to another application, then back to Photoshop. Keyboard focus is lost.

Any ideas why this happens, and what to do about it?

Note: this is somewhat of a cross-post started at http://www.ps-scripts.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4021&sid=d3c3d77dd128 984f8ee30252f0f4cf2a however, as I think it's more of a Configurator / Panel issue rather than a scripting issue I'm now asking here as well.

    The steps I tried are:

    1) click on your panel

    2) switch to illustrator

    3) switch back to photoshop

    4) Open  the dialog window by keyboard pressing Shift+Cmn+S

I can type the filename and I can   dismiss the save as dialog windows  Esc Key without any problem

I tried also other way and other Keys without any problem

If that are the right setps to test the problem, iI can say that all is ok with me

If so try to repair permission on your drive and then to refresh Photoshop preference file

( opening Photoshop   pressing   at the same time   Cmnd+ Opt+Shift )

To repair permission on mac os x:

close all your opened applications open disk utility select on the left column your hard drive and then on the right  in the bottom click on " repair disk permission " close when it finish

Not so sure but the problem you have seems  to be quite the same kind that  happened to someone trying to switch among  tools through the  keyboard with   some  panels

many and different problems around photoshop keyboard,

also when a panel is not involved, as you can see here

    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3437082

Have you updated to the latest osx version?

if not try 10.6.7 that could  solve some problem  with the  keyboard

    http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2011/03/mac-10-6-7-fixes-photoshop-cs5-co nflicts.html

    other suggestions could be :

    - duplicate the default photoshop keyboard and create a new workspace

    or

    - try  creating a new user account and  test there

I'll have someone investigate. Sounds like an issue with the HTML widget. The Esc key should return the focus from the panel - always.
