Text movie: After effects?

Apr 4, 2011 7:49 AM

Hi all,

I'm about to make a little movie introducing a project.

The movie will exclusively be based on texts with some effects, and a voice.

iMovie was almost enough, but I want a tiny bit more freedom. (e.g. move text boxes around , and I'm not that happy with the effects on iMovie)

I have some basic knowledge on Flash, and I have access to Premiere and After effects.

What would be best?

    Hi there,

I realize this thread is a bit old but I thought I would circle back and offer some advice.

For text animation, I prefer to use After Effects. You get a lot of control and freedom over text and can get really fancy with XML, Expressions, and different plugins. After Effects even has text animation effects that are simple to apply. I myself started animating in Flash, and eventually moved over to After Effects and since you said you have basic knowledge of Flash, the transition to After Effects animation should be simple.

For tutorials and getting started guides in After Effects I recommend the following sites:

    http://www.adobe.com/support/aftereffects/gettingstarted/

    http://www.creativecow.net

    http://ae.tutsplus.com

    I hope this helps!
