Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium

New Subscription model sounds interesting. Some really nice v.5 enhancements. 3D Stabilizer looks to be worth the upgrade cost alone.
Is the new Camera Lens Blur multi-processor aware? (Using Lens Blur in CS5 turns off multiprocessing for the entire comp)

How does Camera Lens Blur interact with the AE Camera DOF?
They are the same just applied in different contexts.
Also, are these formerly non-MP filters now MP aware?
Auto Color
Auto Contrast
Auto Levels
Cartoon
Particle Playground
Shadow/Highlight
How would they? This hasn't anything to do with "MP aware". You are mixing up things here. These are temporal effects depending on linear progressions. No different than Cinema 4D needing to run particle systems linearly....

Chris Meyer ahs several clips to explain the new stuff, and there's lots of it.

The subscription plan sounds interesting, but makes no sense to existing CS5 customers...
upgrade to CS5.5 from CS5 - $399
Purchase production premium CS5.5 - $85 a month -> $1,020
Makes no sense at all. I would have expected an incentive or loyalty discount to existing CS5 users who wish to transition to the subscription plan.
Details of what's new and changed are here.
If you read that and the pages that it links to, I think that your questions will be answered. But, to answer one specifically: Camera Lens Blur doesn't kill Render Multiple Frames Simultaneoulsy multiprocessing as Lens Blur did.
Thanks Todd. Some GREAT timesavers in there, including some of my favourites:
• Added Pre-compose menu command to a layer’s context menu.
Simple, but something I've craved for years
• New camera commands for automating common tasks: Create Orbit Null, Link Focus Distance To Point Of Interest, Link Focus Distance To Layer, Set Focus Distance To Layer
Brilliant! This will be a huge timesaver.
• You can now use expressions to link together properties that aren’t represented with simple numbers or strings (sometimes referred to as “arbitrary data” or “custom data” properties). An example of such a property is the Curves property of the Curves effect.
Great news.
• Color Finesse no longer requires a separate serial number, but you should enter a name and organization in the registration dialog box, or else the plug-in will run in trial mode
Thank goodness! Always bugged me.
Yes, I know that time contextual effects would have a difficult time being multiprocessed (but not impossible). But, respectfully, I think you may not understand the question. From previous exchanges with Todd, if you use any of these effects *anywhere* in a comp, MP is turned off for the entire comp.
This is according to the Adobe Help:
If a composition uses any of the following effects, the composition will not be rendered with the Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously multiprocessing feature:
Auto Color
Auto Contrast
Auto Levels
Cartoon
Lens Blur
Particle Playground
Shadow/Highlight
No, CS5.5 is not being release today.
Soon.

> Is this the end of the road for free updates for CS5?
We tend to issue fixes as needed. Note that the After Effects CS4 (9.0.3) update came out long after After Effects CS5 was released.

Are you able to tell if it is days or weeks away?
Now that it's Tuesday, I can give a more satisfactory answer:
It's available now.

Wow, Adobe is charging for CS5.5. What about all the issues with 5? Are those fixed in 5.5 and I have to buy this upgrade to get the fixes? This is rediculous when we have at least 20 copies of CS5 in our group alone. I think I might have to look for a new solution for our team because this is getting out of control.
