Tried to upgrade  CS5

Apr 12, 2011 9:25 AM

I tried to install the most recent patches for all my CS5 applications and it froze with 2 seconds to go. What is causing this? Is it possible that some of the applications now have the upgarde? How can I tell?

Has anyone else had this experience?

Do you have a clean system? Before installing a major application such as CS5 I clean my whole system. Indeed I clean my system at least once a month with Onyx and fsck.

    1. Download and use free Onyx to clean Permissions, run daily and weekly scrips, clean out all caches etc. Set up the Onyx Automatic function to do the lot.

    2. When you re-start the computer hold down command S to enter single user mode. Read the section; Use fsck if necessary, in this Apple document.http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1417

    3. If using Safari, go to the finder>Safari>reset Safari.

    4. Now Install CS5, or CS5 updates and all should run smoothly.

Whenever I find odd behaviours I start by ensuring the OS is clean as it is the OS that must do all the work and fix problems if possible. If a problem persists after going through the cleaning procedure you can be pretty certain the application is at fault as a result of a version incompatibility or glitch.

Since downloading is a Browser function perhaps re-setting Safari, or whatever browser you use, will be enough to do the job.

    Good Luck.
