non-CFF and CFF Fonts using sharpness and thickness ?

May 20, 2010 3:49 AM

Ok so how can I use sharpness and thickness with CFF fonts ? I've read CFF fonts are what the new spark controls use to provide more and better functionality and I can't use sharpness and thickness with them.. WHY !?

I tried setting CFF to false for my fonts that I embed via css but then the spark text controls won't use the embeded font.

Can someone help me out with this please ?

The CFF Font engine simply doesn't support those options, but you have

different options you can try out like cffHinting.  See

    flash.text.engine.FontDescription.

I don't know of any alternatives other than to use the mx text components.

Does anyone have an update for this? I'm struggling with the exact issue right now. Designers look to be detail oriented about font sharpness/thickness in photoshop.
