12 threads on the Flash Player Forum Question: Why can't we Flag these "alphabet" Spammers??? Isolate them when they Register?

Is there some rule that they be allowed to start a thread? They are always Spammers.

On one much, much smaller forum, where I'm a MOD, such I.D.'s are quarantined for a few weeks. In most cases, they ARE spammers. Not sure that it would be possible with such a large forum structure, as Adobe.

Hi Bill, That makes sense. I think we need a Spammers Forum and any "alphabet" people Registering would automatically be placed there. They would be allowed one thread within it and never come out if it was Spam!! At least they wouldn't be able to infiltrate the Forums, no matter how many Forums Adobe have.

The Anti-Virus programs place Malware into a "Vault" or whatever it's called, but the Malware is isolated and not allowed to remain. An Anti-Spammer program running in realtime, monitoring the Forums, LOL

I have noticed the same thing, and wonder if Adobe is monitoring this particular thread. Either they are not, or so swamped, that they are very far behind in applying an "Account Deleted" to these folk.

Maybe Jochem can comment, whether this thread IS being monitored, or if it has just been an exercise in futility.

I don't know Bill, but it's been quiet. Maybe vacation time? Also, I haven't seen any Spam being reported from the Lounge or Dreamweaver.

They are problably busier with more important duties or out of Spam spray:-)

Clearly this info is being managed. I've been seeing the threads from the spammers listed systematically disappearing.

All I can say to Adobe is thanks, and do remember to take some time from fighting the alligators to try to drain the swamp.

There was another forum, that many of the recently mentioned spammers had been using. Unfortunately, I did not make note of it, and it was one, that I had never frequented. Not sure what the spammers' criteria would be - active, or inactive, but that one may still be a target.

If their objective is to move up in the Search engines it probably doesn't make any difference whether it's an active or inactive Forum. Seems like a boring activity in my opinion. Do they get paid by the topic they are spamming about? All I know is that they are a menace.

Yes, there are people who charge money for "Search Engine Optimization".

Gaming the internet at our detriment for commercial gain seems not to be the worlds most above-board occupation, methinks.

And it's hard to imagine Google doesn't recognize this bogus activity and exclude it anyway. But they're not talking about how their search engine rankings work, so no one knows for sure...
