Certificate & Provision file

Apr 26, 2011 11:29 PM

Hi Guys,

I would like to know the difference between several provision file methods like device testing, ad-hoc, apple app store. we have a developer profision file wihch gets expired within a certain period. How could we get the certificate and the provision file which never get expire?

Hi Relaxatraja - the best place to get this info is on the Apple developer portal.

Basically (as far as I know), the only certificate the never expires (or at least has a very long expiry, like 25 years or so) is the one that Apple puts in your app when it is published through the App Store.  Any cert/provisioning profile that you generate will only last a short amount of time, and is meant for development and testing purposes only.  I believe that when you publish your app through the store that Apple replaces your developer cert with their own cert as part of the approval process.

Sorry - I get confused by all the jargon and use certificate and provisioning profile interchangeably (and they aren't the same thing)
