What happened to the old SKINNIER film emulsion frames?

May 17, 2011 3:43 PM

I really liked the older film emulsion frame, now it seems you guys replaced them with a wider version. Its not as clean looking. Am I missing something here? Can you please bring back the old version?

It also seems that whenever you add a frame it crops in on the image more, when originally it just added the frame. This now renders this app's borders feature worthless. Please fix!

Thanks for contacting us about this. We have not made any recent changes to how borders are displayed or applied in Photoshop Express 2.0 compared to recent versions (for example 1.5).

Which versions of Photoshop Express are you comparing?

Does the image displayed below show a different border thickness than you are seeing?

Thanks for providing the sample images. I think I understand what you're seeing. The border size is constant, but how how it looks in Photoshop Express can vary based on the size of the image it's applied to.

In Photoshop Express, if the image is larger than the native screen resolution, the image gets down-scaled to fit onscreen. So if you have a large image and apply a border to it, the border will seem small. If you crop that same image and apply the border to it again, the border will seem larger since the image has been scaled. However, If we take these same images, download these to a computer and then view them at 100%, side by side, the border will be the same size.

Here are three images viewed at 100%: One is at the original size and two have been cropped to different sizes, yet the border size remains the same.

Here's how the same images appear in Photoshop Express on the iPhone 4:

Does this explain what you're seeing?
