Apologies if this is in the wrong part of the forum.
I have been asked to create roughly 600 separate documents from a template with data supplied in excel which I have done no probs using Indesign.
However there is data for each document which must be shown in Pie chart format. Each pie chart is the same size/colours etc just with different values for the 3 fields.
Is there a way in which i can script the creation and saving of the pie charts using Illustrator?
Im using Illustartor CS4.
You can make a template file with a pie chart graph that uses data driven graphics.
But you have to make many xml files and import them.
You can read below article as reference.
The best solution is to either exporting from excel as a csv and then convert the file to illustrator XML ( i.e. XML that will target datasets) or write a schema for exporting to xml (in excel), then use an XSL stylesheet to convert to illustrator (XML). Finally load the file into datasets in illustrator and then export out each dataset as a separate document. This can be done fairly easily using applescript. I will have a look on my mac for an applescript as i have used something similar in the past.( that is if your mac based otherwise i would have a look at other thread that Ten has listed above).
