Converting Colors

Jun 14, 2011 8:56 PM

I'm working on a file that has several different colors in it and I need to make it a single spot color.  I'm working in CS3 and this is what I've done, but I'm having difficulties.  Select All-->Edit-->Edit Colors-->Recolor Artwork-->Preset-->1 color job-->Library-->PANTONE solid uncoated.  But then it's broken down into CMYK and not an actual spot color.  What am I doing wrong?  Any help would be great appreciated as my deadline is quickly approaching!

From your description, it does not look that you're doing anything wrong. You may want to try adding the spot color to the Swatches panel and then pick the color from there during the re-coloring (by double-clicking the Color below 'New'). Also remember to disable 'Black' and 'Gray' in the Recolor Options dialog.

    Hope this helps.

    1) Choose a color library (EG: PANTONE Solid Coated)

    2) Double click on the swatch under "New" to change your color.

You artwork will recolor to 1-color global swatch. You will need to remove the unused swatches though (wish they would do that automatically)
