Why the long wait times to get avatars approved?

Jun 24, 2011 9:04 AM

I have tried to add custom avatar for 3 days now, and still says pending. It is the same photo used in my profile, nothing bad just a pic of me..... What's the hold up Adobe????

I am not sure of all of the channels that the avatar approval process must go though, but the process IS slow. Seems that it took me about 10 days total, for an image of two glasses of red wine. The current one took about 5 days.

Now, there are also two operations, and they might not be clearly deliniated. First, one uploads the new avatar, and then one selects it. Some have uploaded only, assuming that it would automatically be selected, only to find it just sitting, all approved, but not selected.

Good luck, and I would be a bit more patient.

Yes, that is exactly what my case was..... I was wondering why my Avatar hadn't been approved, then found it HAD been approved, but not selected. Stupid if you ask me, but what can you do?

    Good news!

We may never know if it was coincidence, or if "the squeaky wheel" did get the grease?

    Kami,

It may well have been your earlier post that introduced me to the "two-step" process. When I added mine, I think that I just blindly clicked on the right buttons, so never really knew what was involved.

    Thanks,

We can only assume some poor human has to review it to ensure it doesn't contain pornographic material or something.

    Glad you got it approved.

Obviously, those "poor human" eyes missed in my case. There is a subliminal message "Drink More Wine" in that image...

Yes, I think that some poor soul (maybe a MOD, who has angered Adobe) is placed into solitary confinement, and forced to review avatars for 16 hours a day. Not a job that I would want, though one might see some pretty creative avatars.
