Black text is 4-color

Jul 14, 2011 11:10 AM

I am putting together a document in ID in which some of the elements were sent to me as various different files, one is a PDF that was created from a Word file whose (black) text when previewed is CMYK.

Is there anything I can do in Acrobat/Indesign or in the conversion process to PDF that will give me a Black plate only text?

Acrobat 9 Pro - Advanced > Preflight > PDF Fixups > Convert to Gray. Tested, works here.

FWIW, the correct(?) best tool would be Enfocus Pitstop, and if you find yourself frequently in this situation, its cost would be justified.
