As a visual designer I need to design the login form and dashboard for a web application which displays data for tv and print ads.
Pls give me some tips orpointers to design the login page, homepage and interior pages.
I am interested for tips on whst type of icons to use or any image colage related to media (press or tv) or please suggest if there any existing online application to refer.
KISS (keep it stupid simple)
Mystery icons and other eye candy do not necessarily make things user friendly. If people are overwhelmed with gratuitous images/bandwidth or they need to 'think' about what your icons mean, you've lost them before you've begun.
Stick with a basic HTML log-in form. Everyone knows how they work. Ditto for the dashboard. Less is more here. http://www.noupe.com/php/beautiful-forms.html
Content style depends upon how much there is, what it is, and which web devices you need to support:
Each web device has certain limitations and layout requirements. So if your app is intended to reach a wide target audience, you may need to look into CSS3 Media Queries which sends different style sheets to specific devices based on their display width.
As an example, see this link. Resize your browser viewport to see it in action.
Best of luck with your project,
