Coursebuilder Extensions for CS4 or CS 5

May 17, 2010 7:36 PM

Is there a separate Coursebuilder extension that can be downloaded for CS4 or CS5 or does it only come with the Dreamweaver packaged with the elearning suite?  I don't want that suite, but I need the Coursebuilder.

I'm looking for the answer to this question too. I don't see any replies posted, but the question is marked as "Possibly Answered." Did you get an answer? We purchased the Master Collection because the ELearning suite didn't have all the tools we needed.

The Coursebuilder Extension for CS4 is only available as a part of the Elearning Suite.  Elearning Suite 2 has been announced but not yet released but it will probably be the same way.

You could check the Adobe Store, but I don't think it's sold separately.

So, if you buy CS5 master collection, and want the CourseBuilder extension, you have to buy the eLearning Suite? That doesn't seem right.

My suggestion is that we bombard Adobe with this request. I've talked to their Sales and their Technical Support and they give me the (in bad English) "Oh I'm sorry, that feature is not available unless you purchase the E-learning Suite". I try getting them to escalate my call, but they won't go any further. They suggest using the Feature Request for Adobe, so I've done that as well. If anyone has a work-around, I'd love to hear it.

I'm also looking for a work around and have been very disappointed in Adobe lack of support on IMS and SCORM.

I did find a work around, but you need to find someone that has the CS4 with the extension (I think it only comes with CS4 eLearning Suite). If you can find someone with that, they can go into the program files and find the file folder labeled "eLS" within the Dreamweaver CS4 program files. In there is the extension (might be under some sub-folders). If you can get that person to copy the "eLS" folder and its contents (zip it and email it to you if need be), place it in your Dreamweaver CS5 Program Files and then drill down to the extension installer and double click, it should work. I've found with Adobe, you have to be creative to get what you need sometimes...or speak their native dialect.
