How to turn a picture into an Avatar

Hi, all..I am new to photoshop, and I was wondering if someone could help me to turn a picture of myself from my computer into an Avatar character, from the movie..I saw someone on facebook with one, and I think it's awesome! Thanks

    I clicked on the link, but nothing came of it..I only have the trial version of Photoshop, so maybe I don't have all the software I need to create what I'm looking for..thank s for your response and help

    I'm trying to understand why you think Photoshop was used to make the avatar on Facebook.

    Things that you see on Facebook are usually some gimmick conceived to get you to give up your personal information.  These gimmicks include a 'free' utility to turn yourself into a blue avatar.

     

    If you want to use Photoshop, there are plenty of tutorials on the internets.

    Ok, I saw a picture of her on her facebook page, as an Avatar (blue, from the movie), and the caption stated that it was Photoshopped. I will try to go back and see if I may have missed some component that will alleviate our confusion.lol (BTW, she isn't one of my friends~someone else's).
