Photoshop file error -43 on "Edit in Photoshop"

Hi,

 

I'm trying to create a simple menu using an Encore library menu a starting point. When I click the Edit in Photoshop button, I get the above error. Below are the steps to recreate the error. This youtube video also shows the steps.

 

  1. Create a new project.
  2. Drag PAL_blank menu WIDE from the library to the project window.
  3. Drag Nifty Fifties button from library to the menu.
  4. Click the Edit in Photoshop button.
  5. Encore pops up an error box containing the error message "Photoshop File Error -43"

 

Photoshop CS5 and Encore CS5. Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

    Also CS5, Win7 64 bit.

     

    I do not get the error.

     

    Slight variation on your steps: I create a new project, set as PAL.

    The menu list does not show pal or ntsc, just Blank Menu Wide, but the menu name once in is PAL_Blank Menu WIDE.

     

    I don't think there is any choice on those points, and don't believe it has anything to do with the error.

     

    Its a file not found error. Makes me wonder about permissions. Try starting Encore as "run as administrator."

    Thanks for your reply. Creating a fresh project from scratch did fix the problem, but I'm not sure why. I'm launching Encore from Premiere, and I'm not sure whether I'm going to be able to use this fix in that scenario. I'll do some more testing and update this thread or mark your reply as correct. Thanks for your help.

    I'm launching Encore from Premiere, and I'm not sure whether I'm going to be able to use this fix in that scenario.

    It shouldn't matter, but I think there's no difference starting from Premiere (export -> dynamic link) and opening Encore first, then file -> adobe dynamic link.

    Well, I'm somewhat further on. Photoshop will now open the file, and changes made in Photoshop are reflected in Encore. But when I try to build the project, I get this error message:  Blu-ray object: "Main Sequence.pproj", Export file not found.

    That is a new and different error.

    Yes, I had seen that thread, and I found another one which suggested saving the menu to the library and using it from there. You're right that this is a different error.  I'll mark this question answered and open another one if I need to. At the moment, it seems to be running through okay, after I saved the menu to the library and exited;  saved the Premiere project with a different name and sent it to Encore as a new project,  then in that project pulled in the saved menu from the library.

    Just for the record, I'm now getting yet another error: "Blu-ray error "device not ready", code 3, Note " cannot open .(C) - no such file or directory". I have to say,  I'm starting to have some sympathy with Steve Jobs' assessment of Adobe's work ethic! Did they actually test thing at all?

    I tried deleting both AuthorScriptHDMVSessions and the cache, but error is still there.
