Create template from _existing_ document?

Is it possible to create a template from an existing document (i.e. not have to create the template from scratch)?

 

I'm using DWCS4 and I continue to read about how templates can be applied to an existing document, but not how, or if, they can be created from an existing document.

    I think I might have figured it out.

     

    Save document as template... and then make specific regions editable via Insert > Template Objects > Editable Region.

     

    If I'm wrong... please let me know.
