There is no difference between the trial version and the full version (except that the trial version expires after 30 days).

Don't think that's true. I don't believe the trial version have support for AVC codec.

That's wrong.

All of the codecs that are in the full version are in the trial version for Premiere Pro CS5.5.

Todd, will the Epic importer work on CS5.0.3, fully updated? I can't get EPIC material to import, and launching the importer plugin doesn't seem to do anything other than open PrPro... I just finished a big shoot with EPIC and need to start editing ASAP. I'd rather not transcode in CINE-X, either...

You need to manually put the files in the correct folders on your computer. There is instructions on the site where the downloads are. Takes 5 minutes. There are files for PrPro, After Effects and I think Media Encoder.

The Epic importer requires CS5.5. It will not work with CS5.

Hey John, in reading furthur I'm thinking that it's not going to work at all with CS5.0.3... I need CS5.5.2. Can you confirm or deny that?

Shoot... thanks, Todd... is there any other way to get EPIC footage into 5.0.3 without doing a transcode in Cine-X?

Sorry, didn't read well enough. I updated to CS5.5. Works great. The upgrade is worth it, IMHO.

Since the importer requires CS5.5, it seems that transcoding is your only option if you don't have CS5.5.

Hey Todd,

I'm still getting flakey connections with the importer... the footage goes offline and then won't re-connect. Any suggestions?

Hi every one...

I'm wondering, since the Scarlet and Epic are so similar, if the CS5.5 (+Epic Importer) is requiered for Scarlet 4K footage... OR, because it's "only" 4K, like a RED-ONE MX, would it work natively in CS5?

Anyone knows?

I'm sitting here having my RED EPIC files CONSTANTLY flake out. I have hundreds of gigabytes of files here. Do i really have to transcode?

It's uncharacteristic of Adobe to not at least chime in on this...

What do you mean, flake out? I’m using CS5.5, fully updated, with the Epic
importer, and having no issues at all, other than no audio support…

how long have you been working with it in after effects? I've gone weeks without problems, and then boom, offline. Can't reconnect. I can re-load, but it won't stay put for long. By flakey i mean that the EPIC files randomly goes offline in after effects.

Maybe it's something I'm doing.

Now I can’t speak to After Effects at all… I’m not using it with the Epic
files, just PrPro… perhaps you could get more help over the in AE forum.

I would go with avid 6.0 now. It works natively with Epic files--no transcoding
