What is your CD Drive (manufacturer/model)? Perhaps listing all the hardware from the System Info could hlep.

Thanks, Charles, for getting back to me.

First off, I meant to write 'invoking" not 'envoking" the command.

For what it's worth, I am using a Pioneer BDR-206 (a Blu-ray drive) and a Creative SB FX-Fi sound card.

I also have a Blackmagic Decklink Extreme HD card for use with Premiere Pro installed on the system.

I'm not sure if we have that exact drive in our testing lab, but I'll ask around otherwise.

Also, what is the make/model of the computer (e.g. Dell Precision Workstation 390)?

I'm having the same issue happening. This is a custom built i7-960 3.20 GHz Windows 7 PC running with 12GB mem and LG UH12LS28K 12X Blu-Ray Player & DVDRW Combo Drive

I too have the same problem. I have a "store bought" HP Pavilion Elite HPE quad core 8 Gig ram, windows 7 (home) and CS5.5 Production Premium The moment I click on the "Extract audio from CD" the program crashes. Sure looks like a bug to me.

Hi all,

With RDA972's help we found a problem in the code for CS5.5 when enumerating the drives on the system. This should be fixed in CS6, but the issue was probably also in Audition 3 and before. If any of you still have previous versions, does the crash you're experiencing happen in any other version of Audition or onl CS5.5?

That's very good news indeed. One more reason for grabbing CS CS6 as soon as it is released.

Since my last post, I have replaced my old machine with this one:

i7 3960X

64 GB of RAM

Asus P9X79WS

Quadro 5000

2 Pioneer BDR-206 (Blu-ray drives)

Creative SB FX-Fi sound card

Win 7 Ultimate 64

After installing Windows and Creative Suite 5.5, I launched Audition and much to my surprise, invoking the dreaded command didn't crash the program.

I happily installed the rest of my applications safe in the knowledge that my problem was a thing of the past.

Alas, after everythingh was installed, the "bug" was back with a vengeance.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the forethought to check out Audition on a regular basis when I was in the process of reinstalling my applications.

So I am not in a position to pinpoint the source of the problem.

All I can say is one of the applications I installed after CS5.5 broke Audition.

The question is, which one?

But I don't want to find out, after all it's not a deal-breaker for me. I can use Windows Media Player while waiting for CS6 and all its goodies and fixes.
