** New User ** How to allow Flex Web App to be viewed on iOS devices.

Aug 26, 2011 2:46 AM

Currently I had a Web App coded in flex and the database is in XML. I had managed to upload everything on a web server but I cannot view them on iphone. Is there anything that I need to do before iphone can view them? I know iOS dun have flash player so how can I go about doing that?

You can't play a Flex web app without Flash.  If it were an air app, you could package it for iOS and install it to your phone, but that's about all that is possible.

Now that Steve Jobs has resigned, you may want to try your hand at calling Apple and demanding they allow you to install Flash.  Who knows?

Adobe has done a great job in documenting this in the Help and places like Adobe TV.  I doubt any summary I write would convey the steps as well as they already have.

    Hi there,

There really are quite a few wonderful articles out there. If you try googling "Flex iOS Mobile Development" you should get quite a few results.

The two I have found most helpful are:

    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/articles/packaging-air-apps-ios.html and

    http://devgirl.org/2011/06/20/flexair-for-ios-development-process-expl ained/

The initial setup for iOS development can take a while, but those two articles should get you started.
