David,
As of CS 5.5, things will be easier with Audition, as it has now been ported for the Mac too. I have not used the newer version, as Audition 3 works just fine for me. I have heard some grousing that the new, X-platform version is lacking some things, but have not investigated.
You will find that PrPro can be adjusted to perform in a similar fashion to FCP. Adobe tried to incorporate a lot of that into CS 5.5 functionality. Still, there will be a few things that will be different.
In the PrPro CS 5 & 5.5 Forum, Todd Kopriva has posted many tutorials on how things work in PrPro, and with an eye for FCP and AVID users migrating. I stongly recommend his tutorials and articles. THIS would be a good starting point, but he has many more, that might directly apply.
In the past, much ink (or bytes) have been focused on addressing "What's New in Version ___," but now, Adobe is doing even more with tonsl of "This Is How You Do ____ in PrPro vs How You Did It in FCP/AVID... " I applaude Adobe for this.
Good luck, and welcome to the PrPro world. If you end up liking it, half as much as I do, you might never look back. I left AVID years ago, and have missed very little - though I do file Feature Requests with every version.
Happy Editing,
