Why, then, at least not the OPTION to turn it off for those who aren't writting top-secret, classified scripts?

I mean, really?!  What other writing program forces you to enter your password every time you come back to your project after 5 minutes?

Microsoft Word?  No.

Mac Pages?  No.

Final Draft?  No.

Gmail? No.

I could go on, but I think the point's clear.  There's a reason that they don't do it:  IT'S ANNOYING to enter you password 30 times a day because the program keeps making you do it.

I'm giving Story a fair run, but I think I'm going back to Final Draft or (Scripped  for multi-user stuff) until I don't have this distraction slowing my writing down.  That's the last thing I want as a writer is to have a brilliant idea pop into my head and need to get it written down before it vanishes, only to be greeted by Story asking me for a password again and then taking 20 seconds to load the project back up.  By then, often my inspiration is already partly gone.

At least let the user turn it off if he wants.  That would be nice.

I'm using the AIR app on Win 7 and OSX SL.  I don't sit there with a timer, but it seems like it's around 5 minutes.

Why would you default to that?  Why not let the user determine how long he wants it to take.... Or, better yet, let the user decide if he even WANTS it to turn off.  For the life of me, I can't envision but 1% of script writers even wanting this.  I mean, does ANYBODY ever write their scripts sitting inside of a competitor's office?  No.  Often they are at home writing in their underwear.

FYI, I got this workaround:

The default timeout after which the session asks you for your password is 30 minutes. You could change it to a longer duration if you like by following the steps below :

1. Navigate to the folder where Adobe Story is installed on your system.Usually this would be C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe Story or C:\Program Files\Adobe Story

2. Open the file testConfig.xml in notepad.

3. You would see a tag <ticketIdleExpirationTime> with the value set to 1800. This is in seconds, ie, 1800 seconds = 30 minutes.

4. Modify the value to your desired one and save the testConfig.xml file.

5. Launch Story AIR app now.

But it breaks with any number above 1800.  If I could, I would set it to 9999999999999 and be done with it, but even if I change it to 2000 it won't work.  It won't let me log in.  I always get this screen:
