How do I make a play button for a video?

Sep 9, 2011 4:01 AM

The button is not going on the video but at the bottom of the page. I've clicked on the frame and made it a button thats action is 'video' set to play the video file on the document, but it doesn't do anything.

Am I missing something?

    video is MPG4, H264 encoded?

So the video is playing well but not the button? is that correct

For the pic I meant a pic of the video + add the play icon in photoshop. Export as PNG/JPG and then use as poster.

I test on a page Video. + add a PNG icon > convert to button > Event On release > Action>Video

It play.... Be careful that you have only one action in the button + event "On release"

Can you post a screenshot of the overlay creator with the video selected?

Try this as an experiment and then modify and add feature as needed.

    Start a blank page.

Place a button on the page where wanted.

Go to Media and add a video.

Place video on page where wanted.

On Poster add "none". This will make video invisible on page.

Go to your Button and "Convert Button To An Object". Click OK.

Now go to Actions  + and add Video.

    Preview.

Converting Button to an object is important.

Once you have this working you can begin to modify and add features.

John - Can you get this to work? I tried it, and couldn't.

In a button, the "Video" action is not supported in DPS.

Sorry Bob. This does not work.

I often do not know when I am doing Indesign work and digital publishing work.
