Keith,

i notice this in other publictions too.

if you created the video yourself in aftereffects or premiere, export the

last frame from there.

if this is an external video I would recommend making a snapshot in vlc

player, wich gave pretty exact results for me. (I never trusted the video

import option from photoshop).

you could also try to re-encode the video in premiere and export last frame

from there.

additionally, there is a slight difference in pixel rendering from the iPad

video player and the slideshow display in folio. when a video closes, you

notice a slight shifting of sub pixel positions, resulting in a minimal

"flash" when the video ends.

did you try anything of that already?

I would also verify what color profile Photoshop is trying to embed for the image. When you export it out of AfterEffects PPRO it will render with whatever color managment you had for the Project (if any). This is all under the "color management" tab in the render settings.

I've also had problems with change in lightness between still images and image sequences/videos. I fixed it on my setup by changing the colour settings (on the Edit menu) in inDesign.

Set the working space for RGB to sRGB (or whatever working space Photoshop is currently using). Hope that works for you...

Johannes, David, Octahedra: Thanks for all the suggestions. I've tried all these things with no changes in the results. I spent a couple of hours today trying combination I ould think of with color management, to no avail. I even took a screen shot of the end of the video as it played on the iPad in DPS, and then used that as the underlying MSO image in the ID layout, and it still appears darker than the video. Weird.

It appears to me that videos when played in DPS appear lighter and more "washed out" than when played on the desktop. Also, the desktop DPS previewer doesn't exhibit this behavior.

great to see this trick evolve in a first-frame-lasf-frame-method, wich I

thought about,too lately.

I can get this technique to work for me. The video plays for the duration of the interval setting and then gets interupted by the thrid state. I've followed the steps exactly as in the blog post.

Has a recent update changed the behaviour for video in multi state objects?
