Anyone know the status of the "Temp Unavail" download page for

the Web Player 2004?  I'm in need of the file.

I have contacted Adobe support (UK) who said they would pass it on to their 'Senior Engineers'.

That was a week ago - still no response!

Perhaps if more users contact Adobe there might be some action (or am I being naive here?) Or at least some response.

Thank you to all who sent me a copy of the Web Player install file.  If you are in need of the Player, and do not feel comfortable receiving an exe file from a stranger, I did find a site that has a link to the Authorware Web Player 2004.

Having received no help whatsoever from Adobe customer support, apart from referring me to the 'Feedback' section of 'Contact Adobe' which does not list Authorware as one of the possibilities for feedback, I revisited the Adobe Authorware site and found this at http://www.adobe.com/support/authorware/ 

'Adobe has discontinued support for this product. Adobe will honor all  paid technical support contracts until they expire. Basic warranty  technical support will expire on August 1, 2011. For additional support,  visit the Authorware Community Forum. '

When did this appear?   Notice the wording - 'has' not 'is going to' - was there ever a 'is going to' with a specific date?

I suspect that it may not be a coincidence that the plugin download site became 'temporarily'!! unavailable around about the same date.

However, since Adobe are still selling Authorware (at an extortionate price) and advertising it on their own site as '' the leading visual authoring tool for creating rich-media          e-learning applications for delivery on corporate networks, CD/DVD, and          the Web", one would think that they would be duty-bound to make the plugin available for download as part of the package.  Interestingly the Mac player download site still seems to be alive at http://wwwmacr-sjc0.adobe.com/mena/products/authorware/productinfo/mac player/

Following the advice given by Adobe above on their site, does this mean that the 'Authorware Community' could legally set up its own plugin download site if the Adobe download site fails to re-appear?

I thought that the update-date at the bottom refers of the page refers to their 'Online Privacy Policy' since it also appears on many of Adobe's other pages but I guess that I might have missed the announcement of a specific date by not requiring any Adobe support and thus not visiting the page.  I would have expected to see it in the FAQ section relating to the discontinued development of AW.

A readily accessible copy of the plugins from a trusted source would be useful for many. 

If you could post a message on this site when you get around to putting it on your blog that would be great.
