Metadata not being added during import?

When I import my pictures into Lightroom, I set up the metadata to be applied to each picture. I use this to add copyright information.

 

It seems it does not get written, as when I open the files in Bridge or PS CS5, there is no metadata there.

 

Can anyone help on this one?

    The metadata you're adding is being written only into the Lightroom catalogue.

     

    If you want that to be in your image files as well, you'll need to either write it out with the Metadata=>'Save metadata to file' menu command or by setting the 'Automatically write changes int XMP' catalogue setting check box.

    Thanks Hal, but where is this checkbox?

    Or Lightroom>Catalog Settings on a Mac.

    This has worked with some of the metadata but not all??

    It has added the copyright notice only and left off keywords and author details?

    Any ideas as to why?
