Cannot Install Air on Windows 7

I

am unable to install Adobe Air on my Hp Pavilion laptop which is

running Windows 7 x64. I have tried many of the suggestions in this forum but nothing has helped so far. I have listed the log file and MSI log in case anyone can see what is going wrong. There are errors reported in both log files but I dont know what I nee to do to fix them.

    Hi Tony,

    Thank you for providing both logs, this is exaclty what we need when we are trying to troubleshoot AIR installer issues.

     

    Microsoft has just released a brand new tool that should help you resolve this problem.  I'm very curious to get your feedback on it.  Would you mind giving it a try and let us know how it works for you?

    Thanks for the prompt reply Chris.

     

    I ran the Microsoft Fixit at the link you provided and it has cured the problem. When asked if I wanted to fix install problems or uninstall problems, I chose Uninstall problems as Adobe Air was (sort of) on my PC. The utiity found a number of corrupt registry entries and fixed them automatically.

    You need to make this much, much better known, put it on your download page, put it on the product page.

     

    I have been developing flash for almost 15 years, and I have not been able to upgrade my Air suite for months - sorry Chris, but that is so bad I can not tell you.

     

    Basically what is being said is - we cant install flash.

     

    It is clearly a registry key issue - clearly needs information to be supplied to customers and users right at the download and installation source.

    On the other hand, other's (such as myself) have not experienced any problem installing AIR. I've installed it (a number of versions) on both Mac (Lion) and Win7 without any issue.

     

    That said, putting known fixes to known problems on the product page is a good idea.

     

    Also an explanation of what the problem is/was would be good. Was it previous versions of AIR failing to uninstall correctly - or current versions of AIR failing to uninstall previous versions correctly. Was it a problem with a version of Windows7?  It all helps to settle one's nerves.
