I use the rather unknown paid product from recoverdatatools.com.  It recovers files perhaps 95% of the time from all kinds of formatted and repartitioned drives.  It's probably less easier to use, but that is not my main concern when recovering data.  I tend to recover the whole drive and and pick what I want from the resuting image.  My biggest problem is that RAW image types are not included in its image search function, but in data recovery I trade nothing for the abilty to actually recover the data.
