I'm working with FP 11.0.1.152 on Windows in FF and encoding live video from a webcam using the H.264 codec. The camera is attached to both a Video object and attached to a Netstream sending the video to Flash Media Server. When I attempt to get the Camera.activityLevel every X seconds, it is always either 0 or 100. When I switch the encoder back to Sorenson, it reports the activityLevel properly. I can switch the encoder in the application on the fly and changing to Sorenson works fine, H.264 doesn't.
If I remove the camera from the Netstream (still using H.264 encoding) and just have it attached to the Video object, then the Camera.activityLevel reports properly. However, obviously the stream is useless with no video source attached.
Any advice or has anyone else seen this?
I belive your issue is fixed with the bug reported here: https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3005174
Can you try Flash Player 11.2 public beta here and see if the isuse is solved? If not, please report a bug to Adobe public bugbase.
thanks,
Hitomi
You are correct that the beta version fixes that bug, but seems to introduce a video artifact bug that has worse implications when you change the video settings of an ongoing H.264 video stream. Changing the settings works fine with the release version of FP11+. I'll post over in the beta forums and let them know.
