I have 2 Flash animations, both tweened and working as intended, and now I'd like to make a third flash animation which will be composed of the other 2 animations playing after each other (with a few empty frames in between). How I do this? I tried just adding them to the time line and giving enough frames, but that doesn't do the trick.
P.s. this is for CS4, in case the method is differently in CS5.
You can do this in a few ways (as with most things in Flash). You can put them in the timeline sequentially as you said. Not sure why that's not working for you. Maybe you can elaborate?
Or you can export each as a SWF with the publish command, then import those swfs into a new fla and put them in the timeline sequentially.
Or you can have a FLA that plays one and then loads the other as an external swf. Or just load them both, one after the other. Loading etxrenal swfs is discussed here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/897397?tstart=0
Your animations are MovieClip symbols or Graphic symbols? From what you said I guess MovieClip symbols. If you want to arrange them in sequence, you should change their type to Graphic symbol (most suitable type for animations).
You can do so by selecting then on stage and in Properties panel (top left), changing type from MovieClip to Graphic symbol (combobox).
Once you have Graphic symbols, you can set their behaviour to play once / loop / show one specific frame. Once again, you can do this in Properties panel.
Make sure to leave enough blank frames after keyframe with the symbol in it so there's plenty of time for animation to play. You can see the result by scrubbing the timeline.
Thank you very much for your replies. Indeed so, it are MovieClips, of which I want to combine multiple in another MovieClip. Unfortunately I don't have my laptop (where Adobe Flash is on) with me at the moment, but I'll be sure to check out both solutions as soon as I can.
