I am attempting to build a CS extension; the most critical application is InDesign. When I try to run or debug the extension in InDesign CS 5.5, it does not appear in Windows>Extensions, but I do get this message on startup.
I've read thru the thread on InDesign not being in debug mode thread and checked everything listed there.
The extension does appear work in InDesign CS 5.0.
Is CS 5.5 not supported by Extension Builder?
This is due to an error in the InDesign Host adapter library. Please download an updated version from here:

Re: Is InDesign CS5.5 Supported CS Extension Builder
In my experience, the max version set to CS5.5 broke with the 7.5.1 update. I only got my extensions to work leaving the max value blank...
Update on this issue reported by Harbs. When setting the max version to be InDesign CS5.5, Extension Builder creates a version range for you like this:
<Host Name="IDSN" Version="[7.0,7.5]" />
Which is actually shorthand for:
<Host Name="IDSN" Version="[7.0.0,7.5.0]" />
As you can imagine, this works just fine for InDesign 7.5.0, but doesn't work when InDesign updates to 7.5.1. This is a bug in Extension Builder. Currently, there are two possible workarounds:
Note that if you opt for #2, the Bundle Manifest Editor will unfortunately not play nicely with your manifest, this is another issue we're looking to fix in Extension Builder. Sorry for the inconvenience.
