Hello,
So some of the sites I use at work require a login to access all of the pages within. Some examples would be our company's Intranet, applications, SharePoint sites etc.
Does anyone know if there is a way to login to the websites though browser lab so I could possibly test things further?
Thanks!
Yes, but you will need to use BrowserLab in Firefox with Firebug and our Firebug extension installed.
You can get Firebug here:
And the BrowserLab for Firebug add-on here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/231196/
Once you have Firefox, Firebug, and the BrowserLab add-on installed, navigate Firefox to the internal site you'd like to preview in BrowserLab, login, and once the page is loaded right-click on the add-on icon at the bottom of your browser and choose "Preview Local Source".
Here's a link to a video showing some of the features of the add-on:

Let me know if you have any questions,
Mark
We have a couple of additional movies on AdobeTV that show these kinds of workflows:
Testing local content, or content that requires authentication using BrowserLab for Firebug: http://adobe.ly/BL_FB
Testing local content from Dreamweaver using BrowserLab for Dreamweaver: http://adobe.ly/lhKALX

The firebug integration appears to work to some degree. The problem is that some of the browsers load my web pages and other browsers either don't load or load completely incorrect. I'm accessing a subpages of https://www.usana.com/dotCom/login which are:
http://www.usana.com/Main/myUsana/page/DLMNoAccess?subNav=NavGroup_98
http://www.usana.com/Main/myUsana/page/eCardsNoAccess?subNav=NavGroup_ 98
http://www.usana.com/Main/myUsana/page/FollowUpAssistant?subNav=NavGro up_98
http://www.usana.com/Main/myUsana/page/IncomeMaximizerHealthAndFreedom ?subNav=NavGroup_98
The following browsers almost display the pages correctly:
IE 7
IE 8
The following browsers load the pages completely incorrect:
IE 9
Firefox 4
Chrome 11
Firefox 5 Mac
Firefox 4 Mac
Safari 5 Mac
No problem Mark,

We don't have access to either http://www.trial.usana.com or http://trial.usana.com
I assume one or both of those servers are staging servers behind your firewall. But we did test against http://www.usana.com/ecard/home?subNav=NavGroup_98 . The attached screenshot shows what we got for Firefox 5 which was definitely incorrect compared to IE. We are looking into it.
Thanks,
Mark
Hey Mapletuxx,
please try the below steps.
1. please make sure that Firebug is engaged for your page, by default Firebug is not engaged (grey) in color , when engaged it turns orange color - please ensure that Firebug is orange for your page
2. Ensure that "Net" tab of Firebug is enabled
3. Refresh your page
this will ensure that "Firebug net cache" is available and will increase/improve performance for streaming assets back to BL cloud service for preview.
please try the above steps - it should fix the issue you are running into.
Thanks,

Thanks Amit.
Here are screenshots from Amit that go along with his response.
Mark Rausch has recently written an excellent blog post on this topic. You can find it on the BrowserLab Team Blog: http://blogs.adobe.com/browserlab/2011/08/22/testing-private-content-w ith-browserlab/

I'm not sure if the thread got locked but I'm unable to post a reply via the site..only by email,
The suggestions worked and the tool works great now! If only it was able to automtically crawl my site like BrowserCam or provide error indentification and details like Browsera then this would be the best tool on the market!
Some of our sites serve page content based on the browser. Is it a save assumption that the alternative pages will not be viewed when using this method? (Seems like a safe assumption that you are only testing the code that was avaliiable to firebug when it was accessed by firefox this way.)
Is their an option that will allow a secure page to be accessed via browser lab without going the firebug approach?
Thanks!
the only other integration point/alternative which lends itself to "secure page" login workflow is Dreamweaver CS 5 & Dreamweaver CS 5.5 which has the same level of integration as Firebug. Dreamweaver CS5.5 has a feature called "Live View" which you can interact with and do the login.
