WebHelp Pro TOC Missing Topics

May 20, 2011 12:25 PM

We are trying to publish Web Help Pro (RH8 and RH Server 8 (Apache Tomcat version 6)).  What we have just figured out through a lot of troubleshooting, is that the WebHelp Pro TOC doesn't display all the topics and in some cases reorders the TOC based on the defined TOC.  There is no issue until we reach the 194th Item (doesn't matter if it's topic, PDF, PowerPoint, or Book with no link).  The magic number is 194.  When the 194th item is entered in the TOC then books and topics disappear.  In some cases, an entire book of topics is moved under another book.

Does anyone have any clue as to what the issue is?  I've never had a limit to the number of items displaying in the TOC and this is a realtively small project of 295 topics (not including baggage files).

Regards,

CJ

Hi. I don't have an answer, but I have seen similar behavior, though I hadn't noticed the magic 194th item

I know this is a small site, but is this part of a merged project system?

Also, are you using the default "Server-side" search indexing or "Client-side" indexing?

Finally, it would be helpful if you zipped up your Tomcat server log files for the past day or two that this problem showed up. You will find them here on the server machine:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\logs

    TomcatLogs.jpg

Send the zip to my email shown in my Forum Profile.

I will reach out to someone at Adobe and see if they can help with this.

    Thanks

And I don't know how to help either, but I have to admit I was a bit stymied by your mention of the following:

Shouldn't a TOC be presented as it has been defined? How else would you expect it to be presented?

    Cheers... Rick

    Hi CJ,

There is a KB article which discusses the missing TOC issue for RoboHelp Server 8 and 9 and also gives the solutions for that issue. Here is a link to the article :

    Hi,

We have this problem also. I tried downloading the fix from the knowledgebase and am getting the following error:

    Can you help, please?

Hi Dee. I have informed the relevant people at Adobe about this link. I'll post back once the link in working again.

Adobe are fixing the link but in the meantime you can still download the file. Just right click on it and click Save Link as in Firefox or Save Target as in Internet Explorer.

    Hi Colum,

I tried to save the target. I get and XML file instead of a XSL. I went through the process in the KB article, but we still have the problem. Any other ideas?

    Thanks,

    Dee

    Hello,

Did you ever find a real solution to this (I mean, not just flattening the TOC structure to side-step the problem?) I'm having the same issues in WebHelp Pro output.

    Mike
