After an apparently succesfully installation of Adobe Air on a new PC with 64 bit Windows 7 operating system, it doesn't works at all. When I'm trying tu run an Adobe Air application or even the uninstaller of Adobe Air I get the message "This application requires a version of Adobe AIR which cannot be found. Please download..." . I've tried to remove all the registry entries and reinstall Adobe AIR but it didn't solve the problem.

The content of the log file is the following

I'm sorry you're running into installation issues with AIR. Microsoft has just released a new utility that can help resolve installation problems. Would you mind giving this a try and let us know how it works for you? When running the Fix it, go through the uninstall process and try to remove Adobe AIR from your system. Once finished, download the latest version of AIR and install again.

Microsoft Install and Uninstall Fix It

If you still encounter problems, you can try the AIR zapper tool. You can find it on this post: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3737276#3737276

Thanks

Hello

No this fix was also not working along with others I found on the net. I've spent a 3 days already on this. I'll attach the msi installer log maybe that will help you.

Can we see a debug output of the  executable(Adobe AIR Application Installer.exe)?

So this time can you try Windows Install Cleanup tool mentioned in this thread http://forums.adobe.com/thread/771325?tstart=0 to remove AIR Runtime and then install the latest AIR Runtime again?

To install this tool on 64bit Windows, you need to run this program in compatibility mode for WinXP SP3 (right click the exe file, Properties -> Compatibility)

Hello

Finally good news. The Compatibility mode it seems that solves the  issue, but it has to be used for the AdobeAIRInstaller.exe or whatever you try to run to install the adobe AIR.

The steps I followed are below:

1. Used the Windows Installer Cleanup and removed the Adobe AIR. (This could not be removed earlier from control Panel because the same error was shown)

2. Run the AdobeAIRInstaller.exe in Compatibility mode Windows XP SP3.

3. Install the Adobe AIR application. (This might also need the Compatibility mode set to XP SP3 if it's an EXE file)

Note: I also tried a variant with compatibility mode set to Windows XP SP3 to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe AIR\Versions\1.0\Adobe AIR Application Installer.exe and that also worked but only after the reinstallation of Adobe AIR.

As I see, if all exe's are set to Compatibility mode XP SP3 it is pretty much possible to solve the problem. I can do a few tests and come back since I cloned the PC to vmWare so I can work with the nonworking version of the app endlessly.
