In Connect 8, Chat from Participants to Presenters not visible to other participants?

From what I can see, Chat pod entries from a participant are visible to all participants. This is a change from previous version.

Q&A pod is limiting because Presenter must answer a specific Question, and can't just initiate a communication to participants.

Is there a way to have Participants to chat with Presenters and not have their chat visible to other participants (besides Q&A)?
