I am being forced to use the dng converter in order to use my colorchecker software. I'd rather not do this at all, but the colorchecker only recognizes the dng format. My original files are NEF and I usually convert them to TIFF to do my research. This conversion, using the nikon software, is compeltely lossless and i have varified this mathematically. I am using the DNG converter 6.5 to convert my NEF files to DNG and then photoshop CS5 to convert to TIFF. At some point in this process the conversion becomes lossy. Mathematical analysis of the two images (NEF -> TIFF and NEF->DNG->TIFF) shows dramatic differences in pixel values. Any suggestions?
