ideas for web design?

how is everyone getting on with the web design?- I personally think it is great, so straightforward but nevertheless I would like to hear from anyone that has any ideas on improving my skill?

    I recently stumbled on a book "grid design for the web" that teaches lay out and typography (you've get color theory else where) on the lines of print design. And some elbow grease with html and css will go a long way to help you create quick mock ups to validate your design.
