Using OSX, everything is up to date. Been having trouble for a while - whenever InDesign sits idle for a while it just hangs and I have to force quit. It is now happening occasionally with Illustrator & Photoshop. I have already rebuilt the ID preferences to no avail. Any ideas?
This has been discussed here a few times in the last month or so....
I don't pay a lot of attention to hanging Mac problems because they don't affect me, but this is a conflict or glitch with something else that's running, if I recall. Might be Suitcase, but I don't want to blame them unfairly (there are enough other issues lately that ARE caused by Suitcase, for sure). Perhaps one of the Mac users will pop in, or you can serch the forum for the prvious threads.
Usually Suitcase or Q2ID or SING.
Run Activity Monitor, select InDesign, Sample Process, and upload the file to http://pastebin.com. Then run View > Send Signal: Abort (SIGABRT) to force a crash and upload the crash report there too. Post a link here and we'll tell you why it's hanging.
Extensis had determined the cause of this issue and has issued patch updates for both Suitcase Fusion 3 and Fusion 4. Please review this KBA and see attached links for the latest update installers:
