Can't see my files in Navigation panel of Library

Nov 23, 2011 4:12 PM

This is my third effort at posting thjis question - the last two came back "Error - can't post blank message" I just sent a test message all in text and it went, so I'll try sending without screen shots.

Usually when I Import I select what I want to Import from the left panel of the Library interface. I open Folders, then my C drive (whatever) and go from there. My entire file structure is displayed and I can navigate anywhere I want.

Tonight all that is displayed under Folders - C Drive is a listing of already imported folders. It's a list compiled from within Lightroom, not my computer's file directory.

I am not in Catalog and there is no slider to the left of the list - plus the list is not even a portion of my file list, it is something altogether else.

I was able to do a clumsy import by using File Import, which brought up an interface I have never seen before, much less used. I was able to "select a source" there and browse my files. But it was unfamiliar and I need to get my navigation window back to showing what's on my C drive when I click Folders - C Drive. Help?

Sorry about no screen shots, I'm afraid to lose another message. Fingers crossed.

Thanks

Screen shots work. You need to use the camera icon:

The LIBRARY module isn't supposed to show you all of your drives & folders - it only shows those drives & folders which contain pictures from the current catalog.

The IMPORT dialog, on the other hand, should show ALL of your devices, drives, and folders - every place you might want to import pictures from.  Did you actually click the IMPORT button before starting this process?

Yes. Click on the button with the triangle in the lower left corner:
